Scientifically Speaking

on BBC Radio 3

Presented by John Maddox

What happens at the Microbiological Research Establishment, Britain's so-called germ warfare laboratory?
Professor R.J.C. Harris discusses the laboratory's commitment to civilian research projects especially for the Department of Health. He argues that the laboratory has unique facilities both in scientific expertise and technical apparatus for examining problems in immunology, vaccines, cancer and even dangerous infections that might be carried to Britain by people coming from abroad.
