The Men's World Show Jumping Championship

Direct from the International Arena of the All England Jumping Course,
Hickstead, Sussex.
This afternoon sees the start of the first of the equestrian World Championships being staged in England this season (the other being at Burghley in September). For the next three days the best of the world's male riders representing 16 countries will be challenging the holder of the title, Britain's David Broome , for a place in the four-man final next Sunday afternoon.
In this programme, DAVID VINE introduces the contestants and their horses. DORIAN WILLIAMS and RAYMOND BROOKS-WARD describe the course and the action of the first competition of the 1974 Men's Open World Championship.
