The Leaving of Liverpool

Concluding the powerful drama about two English children uprooted from Liverpool to Australia in the 1950s.
The rebellious Lily finally leaves the Ashwood Home to become a servant in the outback. Her loneliness is relieved by her friendship with the gentle Harry, but when she is assaulted by her employer's son and sacked she is determined to find Bert. At St
Bedes she discovers a dispirited, physically scarred boy who tells her of Wilson's death and his desire to become a Brother. However, Lily has different ideas for both of them.
