The action of this play covers thirty years (1865 to 1895) in the life of a Welsh family in what George Borrow called 'the iron and coal capital of the world'. There were twin sisters, daughters of a miner - Megan steadfast and loyal, Moriah all show. The story not only reveals their very different temperaments, but tells how each of them has a strong appeal for Shon Howell, the cheapjack.

Clifford Evans, Cardiff born, has had a distinguished career in the theatre on both sides of the Atlantic, and starred in the film Love on the Dole. Rachel Thomas co-starred with Paul Robeson in Proud Valley.
