Alf and his Coster Pals

on BBC Home Service Basic

View in Radio Times

First of a series of musical shows with BBC Revue Chorus and the Dance Orchestra, conducted by Billy Ternent. Produced by Tom Ronald
Leon Cortez first formed his band of Coster Pals some seven years ago, since when he has appeared with them in theatres all over the country as well as bringing them to the microphone in many ''Appy 'Arf 'Our' programmes. Leon himself was born within the sound of Bow Bells and has brought to all his performances the cheerful, happy, devil-may-care spirit of the true Cockney. Apart from his ''Appy 'Arf 'Our' shows he has himself broadcast on many occasions in such programmes as 'Palace of Varieties', 'Music-Hall' and 'Sing-Song.'
The new series will be fashioned round the doings of the Hawkins family, who may be relied upon to provide any quantity of characteristic fun in the Cortez manner.
