Bennie Maupin Ensemble
Jez Nelson introduces one of the highlights of this year's Cheltenham Jazz Festival, a set by the Bennie Maupin Ensemble. One of the most influential reedmen of the early 1970s jazz circuit, Maupin played bass clarinet and other woodwind on some of the best-selling jazz records of all time, including Miles Davis 's Bitches Brew and Herbie Hancock 's Headhunters. He is joined tonight by his latest recording group, featuring Michael Stephans on drums and percussion,
Darek Oles on bass and Munyungo Jackson on percussion. Producer Robert Abel
