What Is to be done?
In periods of national crisis there are always more questions than answers. The question in the title was originally posed by Lenin; this first programme in the new series of Analysis applies it to our current ills in Britain.
A year after joining the Common Market our conflicts with our partners in Europe are almost as sharp as those which divide us on industrial and social issues at home.
Are there political solutions to our economic problems? Have we done too little or attempted too much? How relevant are appeals for national unity? What elements of consensus exist about the sort of society we wish to live in? Presented by Ian Mclntyre Producer ANTHONY RENDELL
