The Late Film: The Silence of Donald Lang

on BBC One London

Starring Le Var Burton, Paul Sorvino
The powerful and moving true story of Donald Lang, a 20-year-old black youth accused of murdering a Chicago prostitute. Donald could not be tried because he could neither hear nor speak, and the courts effectively committed him to life in an institution. His attorney, Lowell Myers, himself deaf, began a draining five-year battle for justice on his silent client's behalf.
