Late Junction

on BBC Radio 3

Fiona Talkington 's late-night listening includes Obrecht's vast Missa MariaZart, performed by the Tallis Scholars directed by Peter Phillips. Thought to date from the last years of Obrecht's life - around the turn of the 16th century- it is possibly the longest setting of the Mass Ordinary ever written, and one that is characterised by an extremely distinctive sound world.
