It was probably the war that started it all. Then, shortage of manpower meant that people had to be made fit for work as quickly as possible after illness or injuries. Since those days great progress has been made for all types of disabled people. By recordings made in just a few hospitals and rehabilitation centres, this programme gives a picture of what is now being done to help men and women, often severely handicapped, to return to useful employment and independence.
