The Late Film: Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia

on BBC One London

Starring Warren Oates, Isela Vega

Tortured to reveal the name of her lover, the young daughter of General El Jefe gives the name of Alfredo Garcia. The wealthy landowner offers a million dollars in exchange for Garcia's head. The ensuing search takes four of his henchmen and a down-and-out pianist, Bennie, into the depths of Mexico where their greed and animosity lead to murder and a savage confrontation. Director Sam Peckinpah has created a characteristic world of treacherous relationships and a study in obsession bordering on insanity.
