Children's Hospital
8.00pm BBC 1
Eleven-year-old Claire is never likely to grow taller than 4 feet 4 inches. She has achondroplasic dwarfism and is one of the two children featured in tonight's programme about the patients and doctors of Sheffield Children's Hospital.
So far 40 children have undergone leg lengthening surgery at the hospital. However, it is an extremely painful process that will confine Claire to a wheelchair for three years. At the end of it she will have to learn to walk again. The programme follows her deliberations as she makes the biggest decision of her life.
For nine-month-old Emma it is not a question of whether or not to have treatment for her liver disease - without a transplant she will die. Even when the tense wait for a suitable donor finally comes to an end, Emma's fight for life is not over.
