First of three programmes 'Initially some people say, "Oh, I couldn't do that, I couldn't eat this". We always find them, at the end of the week, in the front of the queue.'
Six ordinary people have signed up for an experiment. They have never met before They have virtually no outdoor experience. But they are going to learn survival techniques from the experts - and put them into practice on a remote offshore island.
In the first programme, the Survival Team arrive in an isolated valley in Devon for a week's training.
There they learn how to shelter from the elements, how to gather food, how to work as a team. Then the rehearsal is over - and they are flown to the island for the real thing.
