Jazz File: Jazz Rock in Britain

on BBC Radio 3

During the 1960s Soft Machine, Colloseum and super group Cream continued to combine rock rhythms and jazz improvisation, developing the new sound to an ever more receptive audience. Jack Bruce, John Hiseman and John Marshall are joined by writers John Wickes and Stuart Nicholson as Barbara Thompson continues to trace the music's development from its roots in the early R'n' B groups of John Mayall and Alexis Korner.
