Rebuilding Waterways. Howard Stableford visits Bugsworth Basin in Derbyshire, once Britain's largest port on the narrow canal system. It has just been reopened after 30 years of restoration by dedicated volunteers. In Sussex, on the Wey and Arun Canal, the plan to open up London's lost route to the sea still continues after a quarter of a century. But the volunteers working on the project have much work to do, including the restoration of the bankside environment.
