Songs of Praise

on BBC One London

with the deaf from Falkirk.
Deafness is an invisible handicap and is therefore often misunderstood. Tonight Roger Royle meets hearing-impaired people from all over Scotland. He meets Maissie Baillie, an Elder at the Albany Deaf Church, whose vivacity and humour are a support to a deaf and blind friend. Roger also visits two schools: Windsor Park School for the Deaf in Falkirk and Donaldson's School in Edinburgh.
The percussionist Evelyn Glennie talks to Roger about her life and work.
A hearing and deaf congregation have come together from all over Scotland to St Andrew's Kirk in Falkirk to sing and sign tonight's hymns.

Ye servants of God (Laudate Dominum); All things bright and beautiful (Royal Oak); Amazing grace; For the beauty of the earth (Lucema Laudoniae); Guide me, O thou great redeemer (Cwm Rhondda); God moves in a mysterious way (London New);
Walk, walk in the light; To God be the glory
