Five Fictional Heroes
With Donald Macleod.
4: Stephen Maturin. Maturin - Irishman, ship's doctor and amateur scientist - is the hero of a series of novels by Patrick O'Brian. He has connections in high places, but his lack of uniform and his fluency in foreign languages mean that he is often on board ship on some unspecified government business - secret diplomatic missions or espionage. He also has a great love of music, which he shares with the ship's captain as they sail the seven seas. Including excerpts from:
Locatelli Trio Sonata in G, Op 5 No 1 Philharmonia Virtuosi
Boccherini Sonata in D
Mela Tenenbaum (violin), Dorothy Lawson (cello)
Haydn Duet in D, H X 11 Philharmonia Virtuosi
Molter Trumpet Concerto No 2 in D Maurice Andre , Paillard CO, conductor Jean-Francois Paillard
