But the Thais are paying a terrible price for their growing addiction to methamphetamine, a synthetic form of speed known locally as yaa baa or "crazy medicine In just five years Thailand has acquired nearly a million addicts. Olenka Frenkiel joins the patrols which are trying to stop the drug traffickers from crossing the border from Burma.
