Afternoon Theatre: The Wight Bridge

on BBC Radio 4 FM

A new play for radio by Geoffrey Hubbard

The time is 1851. Throughout England English engineering genius is working miracles in revolutionising the transport system. Railways, canals, roads - and bridges - transform the landscape. What has this got to do with a lepidopterist living in the Isle of Wight? The thing is, his mother doesn't enjoy the sea journey. So William Calthrop Boddington decides on a solution fitting to the age.
