Rachel Calvert , the widowed mother of an Ulster family, learns that her son John has died in action at the Somme.
The Ulster girl who nursed him in France is to visit them on her way home. But she becomes indispensable to the Calverts and stays many months. Do they want her for herself or for the solace she offers?
