Ten programmes in a Business Studies course
A contract may be less valid than it first appears for a number of reasons. This week's programme looks at things that can go wrong with contracts. For instance: you sell your car to a schoolgirl who pays by cheque. The cheque bounces.
You win a £50 bet with a friend. He refuses to pay.
You buy a patent medicine 'guaranteed to cure everything from hiccup to loss of virility'. You drink it... and hiccup.
You are an undertaker and you buy a hearse that has been 'totally reconditioned', and which last transported 'none other than his Grace, the Duke of Burwash'. Neither statement is true.
What is your legal position in these situations?
