The Promised Land

on BBC One London

An account, on the anniversary of the expulsion of Asians from Uganda, of what life has been like for two families who came as strangers to Britain.

Reporter David Lomax was in Kampala at the time General Amin forced the Asians to leave Uganda. Lomax met two families, The Osmans and The Mistrys... 21 people facing with anxiety the prospect of life in a new land. They arrived without homes, money, jobs or friends. In the event, life treated the two families very differently. Tonight's film is their story.
