Miriam and Alec decided they would not go to Canada after all. Mrs. Freeman was given notice to leave her room because Elsie had told Mrs. Bowman that Isobel Fielding was suing the Dales. She arranged to move to a small hotel. Rachel Guest learned that Denby Harris had escaped from prison; she collapsed and refused to see the detectives who called on Harris's possible contacts. Alec was questioned twice and became truculent. Jenny returned home with baby Rosemary leaving Christopher in hospital. (Continued in next column)
