The UK's big-i gest one-day par ticipation event, as 20,000 people - more even than the London Marathon -run from Newcastle to South Shields. The field for this half-marathon event includes international athletes, but has been dubbed ' the fun run' because of the great spirit of comradeship among the competitors whose ages vary from 8 to 80.
