Alban Berg (1885193a) Berg was a pupil of Schoenlberg; but like all the beSt pupils, he did not follow his teacher's methods too slavishly. It is perhaps his very departyres from Schoenberg's 12-note method that make Berg's music the most approachable among the composers of the Second Viennese School. He was not a prolific composer and this week's programmes include most of his published works.
