Michelangeli, a pianist famed for his mesmeric perfectionism, his doleful platform manner and his last-minute cancellations. The programme includes interviews with friends and colleagues as well as BBC archive recordings dating back to the 1950s, such as Ravel's Gaspard de la Nuit and Schumann's Faschingsswank aus Wien.
