A programme in praise of villainy
Malefactors:

BBC Theatre Chorus
BBC Theatre Orchestra, leader Tate Gilder , conducted by Reginald Burston Produced by Gwen Williams and Desmond Davis
Rogues (not to be confused with scoundrels) appeal to us all. Something of their adventurous lives has been handed down to us in story and legend, with all the glamour added, and probably often enough little of the truth. So we have our Robin Hoods , our Claude Duvals , our Vagabond Kings, all glorious heroes, and stage and screen actors compete to play them on both sides of the Atlantic.
Stage, screen, and radio have a long ' rogues' roll of honour' of their own, and many of them, happily, have been singing rogues. Some of the rousing and roguish songs they have sung will be heard again in this programme.
