The National Association for the Paralysed was founded in 1948, the founders having been severely disabled in the 1939-45 war. It has helped more than 8,500 paralysed people, ex-service and civilian, by giving technical information, suggestions for overcoming disability, and advice on benefits and help available from Government departments, local authorities, and voluntary organisations.
