A programme for children under five
All children, it seems, love a monkey. However, in spite of his tricks, he is too lovable to be scolded for long and is quickly forgiven for all his mischievous escapades. What child, moreover, can ever resist the lure of the gay, strident, discordant music of a barrel-organ It was last September that we previously broadcast the story by Susanne Hale-a true one, by the way-about the little brown hairy monkey who belonged to an organ-grinder. After that occasion the mother of a little boy sent us a letter to say that the tale of the barrow ' organ had ' caused him so much delight that he felt someone really must write to tell you.' He was evidently not alone in his enjoyment, for, though so man/ months have passed since then, we continue to receive requests that the story should be heard again. Many of our small listeners will be happy to know that it is to be repeated on Friday of this week, and we hope they will enjoy it as much as ever.
