Better to be Fair ' The Guardian'

on BBC Radio 4 FM

Malcolm Muggeridge looks it the newspaper as it reaches its 150th birthday.
C. P. Scott , the now legendary editor of The Manchester Guardian, inspired the paper for 60 of those years. Today's staff still quote him: ' It is well to be frank, it is even better to be fair.' Scott's grandsons brought the paper to London seven years ago to fight for a place among the national 'quality ' press. SIR NEVILLE CARDUS
ALISTAIR COOKE , C. A. LEJEUNE
MICHAEL FRAYN , and the present editor ALASTAIR HETHERINGTON. Journalist of the Year, are among the household names who take part in the programme.
