A story of the ring, with lyrics by James Dyrenforth and music by Michael North. Orchestrations by Wally Wallond
The action covers a period of about two years and takes place before the war
The Variety Orchestra, conducted by Charles Shadwell
Written and produced by Gordon Crier
Here is a musical comedy with a background of the squared ring. It deals with the life of a boxer (Billy Milton ) who, unknown, wanders into a gymnasium where the proprietor is engaged in training a 'white hope '. What he says he can do with him, what he does with him, and what comes of it all is the gist of the story.
What really matters is that the manager of the gymnasium is played by that great artist and boxing fan Syd Walker , and that the famous boxing promoter Sidney Hulls will broadcast as himself in the programme.
