1.00 Opera Matinee: La Serva Padrona
Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's famous intermezzo with a cast of two, about a determined servant girl who tricks her master into marrying her - a prototype for countless operatic heroines. First performed in 1733 between the acts of a serious opera, the work was an instant success and did much to influence the direction of musical comedy. Sung in Italian.
