Paul says: 'I do quite a few dedications on the show, and I remember one particular day when I told the listeners that I would play a Hot Chocolate record at 1.30 for someone's birthday, but pretend that the details on the card were unreadable. So, they could phone a friend with a birthday, and make out they'd sent this request. The amazing thing was that letters arrived afterwards from people saying, " You made a dedication specially for me! " Obviously, their friends didn't tell them that it was just a gag. Not that it mattered, because it ended up being a nationwide dedication for everyone with a birthday on that day'.
