Situated in the beautiful High Peak district of Derbyshire, Buxton Opera House has, since its opening at the turn of the century, been a play-house and a cinema. Now newly renovated it is full of music with its own production of Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor marking the start of the first Buxton Festival.
Michael Oliver discusses the premiere with Michael Kennedy, and the theme of the Festival, Sir Walter Scott, with David Daiches; attends an ox-roasting and explores the architecture of this Spa Town with Derek Sugden and Patrick Nuttgens.
