A dramatisation of the birth of the Irish Melodies
Written by Stephen Potter
The songs sung by Count John McCormack
Distinction is lent to this feature on Tom Moore , the great Irish poet, by the fact that some of his melodies, which have so often been broadcast, will be sung by a great living Irishman, Count John McCormack. Listeners will hear, for instance, the air known as 'The Little Red Fox ' played as it appears in Bunting's collection as a quick dance tune, and then sung in slow time, with the dignity of a slow march, to Moore's setting to his own words ' Let Erin remember the days of old '—and sung by the man whose singing of simple songs has charmed the world.
