Inside Story

Billingsgate fish market may have moved to a modem building in London's Docklands, but it's still a place for duckers and divers, where the old ways hold strong. The documentary series returns with an entertaining film about the sharp-witted, rough-tongued cockneys who are at their most lively in the early hours.
Roger combines fish-trading with bookmaking at Romford dog track; Tony has made a million in the restaurant business and is tipped to become the man to modernise Billingsgate. Bobby is one of the porters who control everything that moves in and out of the market. He wants to preserve the closed shop that protects his livelihood.
Here is a picture of a world which many thought was long gone, where deal-making and personal abuse are a way of life.
