Jazz at the Bath Festival

on BBC Radio 3

Chris Parker introduces the last of three programmes of music recorded during the Jazz Weekend in Bath.
British pianist John Taylor (who has been an inspiration to succeeding generations of players including
Django Bates and Julian Arguelles ) talked about his career and gave a solo recital in the Guildhall. In the Pavilion, the 15-piece French group Systeme Friche - led by clarinettists
Jacques di Donato and Xavier Charles - played some wild and exhilarating music. The line-up included Breton pipes, hurdy-gurdy, violin, alpine horn and assorted percussion, as well as more conventional instrumentation. Producer Derek Drescher
