MOORLAND BIRDS

on BBC Home Service Basic

View in Radio Times

by John Kirby
When John Kirby walks over the moor he takes his own recording apparatus. Each year the resident grouse plays host to a variety of birds. The call of the curlew mingles with the drumming of snipe, and shy birds like the golden plover betray their presence by distant call from the wind-swept grass.
