LIBERTON KIRK is situated in the centre of the parish, which once stretched as far as Inveresk on the one side and to within a mile of-Dalkeith on the other. When this church was founded is not rightly known, but it is known that donations given in its favour by Macbeth were confirmed by David I. The present building was erected in 1815 and was renovated in 1931, when a new organ was installed.
