Stationed in Burma, Cpl Lachlan-McLachlan is unlucky enough to be wounded on the last day of the war. After an operation he is convinced that he is well again ! -but, in fact, he has only weeks to live. IJis fellow soldiers are assigned the task of helping ' Lachie ' through his last weeks,
: a task made difficult by his terse and unfriendly nature.
