Compere, Chappie D'Amato with Beryl Orde in impersonations
The Cosmopolitan Four, well known now for their bright rendering of novelty numbers, began their present series on April 5, and bring it to an end this afternoon.
Harry Robbins, its director, was with the Savoy Orpheans in 1927, and subsequently with Jack Hylton for over four years, and also with Henry Hall's Dance Orchestra. His most recent engagement was with Debroy Somers when the latter's famous band was playing in "Running Riot" at the Gaiety. Robbins has toured every country in Europe except Rumania and Russia, and has broadcast in most of them.
London-born Harry Bidgood arranges most of the music for the Cosmopolitan Four. He was at one time musical director of a well-known gramophone company.
Tommy Nicol, who is a Scot, plays the accordion, and Bobb Robson, the string bass. Compere of the show is Chappie D'Amato, well known for his hill-billy songs and burlesques of Italian singing.
