Cristofori's Florentine Piano
Around 1700, Bartolomeo Cristofori , keeper of instruments forthe Medicis in Florence, created a harpsichord with a hammer action instead of plectra -the first piano. Catherine Bott meets Denzil Wraight , who has recreated one of Cristofori's early instruments, and Ella Sevskaya , who has recorded a recital on it.
