Some consumers, tempted by offers, have given up after finding too many conditions in the small print. Others found that special packages could be bought cheaper at their local travel agent. And one couple's exotic holiday prize involved so much hidden expenditure that they were paying virtually the full cost. Simon Walton investigates the price of "free" flights.
