Written in 1895, Arms and the Man is one of Shaw's earliest plays. It was the first of his ' Pleasant Plays ', which include Candida, The Man of Destiny, and You Never Can Tell. Arms and the Man was broadcast in three parts in the spring of last year.
Lucie Mannheim is one of the outstanding stage personalities of today. For many years she delighted Berlin audiences by her performances in plays by Ibsen, Shakespeare. Chekhov, and other master dramatists. She made her debut in London in 1935, gaining immediately the popularity that she has since enjoyed in this country.
