Fifty years ago Robert Farnon set foot on British soil from his native Canada and since then he has been a major influence on the musical life of Great Britain.
David Jacobs introduces tonight's concert, in which Farnon conducts his own compositions and some of his arrangements, with vocal guest Angela Christian and the BBC Concert Orchestra, led by Martin Loveday.
Including at 8.20 Interval David Ades, secretary of the Robert Farnon Society, looks at the jazz and swing side of Farnon's work.
