John Liptrott Hatton , was born at Liverpool in 1809 and died in Margate in 1886. As well as writing sacred music, operas, and incidental music for the theatre, he was a prolific composer of songs, and the half-hour devoted to them this evening will give listeners an idea of his worth. His most famous song, ' To Anthea', a setting of Herrick, is included in the programme.
