12—'The Battle of Borodino '-1
A serial reading by Eric Gillett
The battle of Borodino was fought on August 26, 1812. It decided the fate of Moscow, and, in the long run, it proved to be the ruin of Napoleon, too. The Russian troops are inspired by patriotic fury against the invader. Their spirit defeats the calculations of the military experts. It inspires the civilians, too, and Pierre raises a regiment at his own expense, and goes out to see the battle.
