In July 1575 Robert Dudley , Earl of Leicester, entertained Queen Elizabeth I and her court for 18 days. This was
Dudley's final attempt to woo the Queen and no time, effort or expense was spared. No one was in any doubt as to the political undercurrent of the event, but in the meantime all enjoyed the last and greatest Tudor knees-up.
