Sir Colin Davis
In the last programme of this series, the Musical Director of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, takes time off to visit Cardiff, where cameras follow him behind the scenes as he rehearses and then conducts some choruses from Handel's Messiah, one of the masterworks of the choral repertoire. Davis is passionate about choral singing and loves working with amateur choirs. And where better to find this than in Wales?
The amateur Cardiff Polyphonic Choir is joined by the BBC Welsh Symphony Orchestra, leader DESMOND BRADLEY, With JOHN CONSTABLE (harpsichord) and JOHN BARKER (organ), in the Parish Church of All Saints, Penarth.
