The history of the Palace Theatre, Bath, goes back to the 'eighties, when a building was erected on the Saw-close site and named the Pavilion. It had its chairman, who announced the turns from his table after the manner of the day. Next, it was partially reconstructed and became the Lyric, presenting such artists as Charles Chaplin, Ada Blanche, Charles Coborn, and Wilkie Bard. Then in 1903 it was renamed the Palace, and nine years later it was taken over by its present proprietor, W.S. Pearce. A little over a year ago it closed down for rebuilding, and was opened again last September. The theatre is specially wired for broadcasting.
